I admit I don't use it often but after a ride in a local lately I have become addicted to the Alerter reset tone and such, Matt, your AC44V3 [haven't tried the AC60 or ES44 sound sets yet] Alerter sound will not start when the alerter timer gets down before it penalizes me, is there a fix you're planning for this or is there a way you can tell me how to set this up in your AC44 sound release?

It's the line for the deadman, it doesn't ring off like it should, if anybody whos familiar with the SMS setups and all please catch me on a messenger [after PMing me your ID if I dont have it] and try to help me figure out why it does this. Thanks.

There has to be a line in the sound file for the alerter sound, and seeing how Matt doesn't even know what the alerter is, it'd make sense that there's no sound for it. The alerter is similar to the deadman...basically if the engineer doesn't touch anything for a certain amount of time, it'll come on with a certain tone that gradually speeds up until the engineer hits the alerter reset button. If he doesn't in a certain amount of time, it puts the train into emergency. A safety measure in case the crew falls asleep or something. Check the d9_deadman.wav file with the DASH9 for an example found on many GEs. For most EMDs, check out the following video from 2:40 to 2:45. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgWAOCQ6D3MThey do get mixed and matched, but predominantly, they're as I said above. I like to keep them on in MSTS as it adds to the realism...also makes you wonder how some of these engineers maintain their sanity

I looked through the SMS files there and they have it scripted, it just doesn't play the sound when the alerter activates, but it shows on the computer screen of my AC44s I use [DW CSX ones, sigh- lol]

After looking through SMS files for a number of engines of various types, I am unable to fined the line(s) that contain information regarding the alerter. This may explain why I occassionally go into emergency without warning when running with the alerter option checked.
Is there specific text that indicates that can be inserted into SMS files to activate this function?
Thanks very much.
