G'day folks, Does anybody know if this kind of horn exists yet for MSTS. It's a k5llar1l horn. It's used on SD70ACE's and CN SD70M-2's. It's a different sound than many horns that seem to be available for the ace's and m-2's. Here's a couple of youtube vids that show the horn I'm looking for: ca.youtube.com/watch?v=7cuPicYUyawca.youtube.com/watch?v=y-fuzQJB-FEI'm sure they exist for train simulator somewhere, I just haven't been able to find them. Thanks, Matt

Maybe it's a good question for here, I'm looking for the correct horn for an CP GP38. I don't have so many knowledge about horns and types etc.

I believe that would be a K-3L for a GP-38.

I didn't found a K-3L at train-sim.com, and a search with google did not help. I need them because I've downloaded the great 645-soundset from this site, and I want to use the set for any locomotive with an EMD 645. The set doesn't contain alias-files for that locomotives (CP GP38), a needed non-turbo alias for an CNW GP38 was a little effort to make, and I need aliases for a MRL SD45 and a MRL F45. Who knows which horns I have to use for them? P.S. Because I'm from the Netherlands is my English maybe not 100% perfect, but I hope that I'm clear and you all don't care about that

S3L or K3LA be most accurate for UP SD40-2s.

S3L or K3LA be most accurate for UP SD40-2s. I think there are P3 OCs and NCs on them sometimes too.

Been a little while since I've posted here. But along with the DDA40Xs, UP's SD40-2s were the test bed for several different horns back in the 1980s. Including, but not limited to, S-3L, S-5T, K3L, K3LA, K5LA, PM990 and the P3. They were trying to find which sounded the loudest farthest down the tracks. Several DDA40Xs were equipped with an air-raid type siren in this quest for distant sound. The whole point was not for grade crossings, but for work crews. I've never been able to confirm it, but I believe it stemmed from a deadly accident involving a track gang that didn't hear the train coming. Anyway, the horn that stuck was the S-3L. The K3LA didn't start showing up until it became EMD's standard horn in the late 1980s, upon the introduction of the SD60Ms. Today a few RS-5Ts and P3s can be found along with K3LAs. But for the most part, the SD40-2 is being phased out quickly on UP as more and more GEVOs and SD70ACes come on board. Let's not mention that 1000 lease order of SD70Ms. They along with SD60s, C40-8s and probably the last CNW SD50s are spending their final days in rock train duty in and around Texas, and local service across the system. Finding them on cross country trains is becoming harder and harder to spot.
