It's been reported on Bullsheet that the last Conrail AC-traction EMD has been repainted, CSX SD80MAC 4597, the former CR 4116... The only two units left in the AC-traction "smiley" scheme are two of NS's SD80s, NS 7205 (CR 4109) and NS 7208 (CR 4115), and the reports I'm getting suggest that they'll both be in black before the snow melts... A sad day indeed... >>MC

The last time I was up in Cresson, I got photos of every SD80MAC except for one, but three were in blue then. They must have just repainted one.

Already the world seems a little bit darker. It's a very sad day indeed.

Already the world seems a little bit darker. It's a very sad day indeed. It's been sad, I haven't seen as much blue over the last year, except for the SW1001's pooled at Abrahms yard. Though I did see NS 8367 on a coal train last night and I got shots of two Conrail GP40-2's this morning on a stone train. I think it's time for a blue comeback! CONRAIL OVERTHROW THE WORLD!!!!!!! *Runs to editor and Tools to make a CR Consist to put in screenshot forum*

We could use some more Conrail routes to. Currently all we have is the Indy Line and the PRR Eastern Region, which is actually set in the Pennsylvania RR era. I don't know about you, but when the new MSTS-X is finally released, Horse-shoe Curve is getting about 15 years shaved off of it. ;D We could still use some Conrail routes in the current sim though

The L&HR route is a good one, as well as the old NS Harrisburg route. I run more Conrail on the L&HR though. I hope the person doing the Pittsburg Division is able to get that done. I'd love to be able to go through MO interlocking with a PIAL and have helpers screaming on the rear. ;D

The Hudson Valley, between Albany and New York City... The west bank of the Hudson is home to the CSX River Line... Single track, always busy... The east shore is the Amtrak Empire Corridor, with plenty of Amtrak and Metro North traffic, so both the freight and passenger MSTS fans would be happy... The route would feature beautiful scenery, lots of trains, and it could also include Selkirk Yard! Oh sorry, I'm dreaming out loud again... >>MC

My dad got them for me through a friend he knew from Conrail when they were renumbering everything back around 1999-2000. I'll have to post a shot sometime.

It'll all be gone by 2010, at least on the NS side of things (NS is even going so far as to taking the pilot-mounted ditchlights and putting them up on the walkway now). And, well, there aren't many blue ones left on CSX as it is, so shoot them while you can... That being said, here's a shot of 4601 on Q279 at Batavia, NY before it went to the dark side: www.nickwilson159.com/photos/CSX/?id=3On the NS side, here's 7211 working at South Fork, PA this past Summer: www.nickwilson159.com/photos/Norfolk_Southern/?id=49And, while not an AC motor, here's a shot of a blue one on 852 on Track G at Rockville, PA from a few weeks back: www.nickwilson159.com/photos/Norfolk_Southern/?id=9

Hey Nick, what happened to the team switch in South Byron? When did they sever it like that?

Bad news. 7208 got repainted last week, after going into Altoona for traction motor repairs. Luckily, 3347 was also in there for the same work, but stayed blue. We're down to 2 MAC's now...

Speaking of dying paint schemes, CSX recently repainted 4617, the last SD40 ever to wear C&O paint, and recent reports are that CSX GP38-2 2667, last unit to wear Seaboard System paint, is at the Huntington Locomotive Shops waiting to be painted.

John Crisanti and I are working on BNSF Heritage units. I'm going to be working on a GN one soon. John is working on an ATSF SD70ACe. No, not a warbonnet.
