After complaining forever about un-editable inaccuracies on NS locomotives (C40-9Ws, other NS locomotives) in MSTS, I have put some money aside for detail parts for an HO scale NS GP59 #4634. Here are some pictures of it. So far, I have the mini lamps for the head lights and dtich lights. I have the plow. I'm going to cut the width of the plow slightly to get it in proportion. I'm planning to solder the handrails and add ditch lights housings latter. I do still need the MU hoses and the K-5LAR24 horn. I would put a prototypical P5R24 new cast on it, but I like the K-5LAs better. Athearn Kit locomotive.

Some progress. Good New: I have both plows painted and on the locomotive with the old Athearn kit headlight removed and soldered new 12v mini lamps for the headlights now. (note, two plows on the locomotive) Bad news: regretfully, while attempting to solder a handrail straight, I melted some of the dynamic brake grills. Pictures soon.

Nice work, but I don't like Athearn models.

Cool, cant wait to see the progress, I've always wanted to do projects like these, but my hands aren't that steady, and I've never been able to do that stuff lol.

Nice work. I had a Atlas BN SD24 and while running it with another unit on a train, the rear plow somehow fell off and uncoupled the trains units and derailed them both.

i've hit a snag. The 12v lamps are way way way too much. They have melted slightly the headlight housings. Now i'm gonna regret this. Well, i guess i'm going to buy the 1.5v lamps with resistors and solder that on there.

The engine is already getting beat up like real units now!

Nice work. I had a Atlas BN SD24 and while running it with another unit on a train, the rear plow somehow fell off and uncoupled the trains units and derailed them both. Yeah? I put new couplers on an SD45. The uncoupling pins were a bit to low, caught a switch point, derailed at a decent clip, and went to the floor. Created a crack in the shell across the walkway, bent the front pilot back and managed to bend the lead axle on the front truck. $80 locomotive down the drain... anyway, nice looking model. You've done a good job so far. Unbent the pilot so it looks 'okay' so now it sits on my workbench, good side out, watching the rest of the equipment on my layout. Maybe some day I can get it fully repaired.
